2026 Summary
The fourth annual Answers for AWS survey ran from January 6 to February 6, 2026 and was promoted by the amazing AWS community. Thank you to everyone who participated!
The survey covered the following categories:
- Infrastructure as Code
- CI/CD
- Serverless
- Containers
- NoSQL Databases
- Event driven architectures & event busses
- AI & Machine Learning
- AI SDLC
Some notable highlights include:
- The most loved AWS service for the second year in a row is Simple Notification Service (SNS) 🎉. It had the highest positive/negative split of any service across any category. Close behind is SQS and DynamoDB.
- AWS SAM has retaken the lead in the Serverless category, beating our Serverless Framework from last year.
- Amazon Bedrock usage climbed to the third spot in the AI/ML category, but was overtaken by Anthropic direct API usage for second, with OpenAI continuing it's dominance in the top spot.
- Over a quarter of responses where submitted by AWS Community Heroes and Community Builders - the folks most aware of the changes in AWS and the ecosystem.
- Claude Code scores highest in Positive/Negative split in the AI SDLC category and also top in Interest and Retention
- While GitHub Copilot has the most usage in AI SLDC, 21% of folks would not use it again. Kiro sits in the middle.
- Elastic Beanstalk is the most disliked AWS service in the survey, with a 70% negative split.
- AWS has a solid hold on folks 35 or older, but the younger generation, particularly those under 25 are not choosing AWS.
